Karunagruha
Karunagruha started in 1963 is a residential school established for the rural disabled children of Karnataka. The vision and objective of Karunagruha (Home of compassion-literally), is to give individual attention to the overall development of every socially disadvantaged child who is sheltered here, and to help him grow in to a respectable and responsible citizen of the society. Karunagruha happened to be the one of the very few residential schools for the rural disabled children of Karnataka, for many years. Hundreds of physically challenged children from different parts of Karnataka were provided shelter, education and medical rehabilitation in Karunagruha 4 decades. Many of them are now working in various capacities. They have demonstrated that they can fend for themselves in an indifferent society and compete at par with other well-endowed people. Children are provided with appropriate medical attention and have been successfully rehabilitate. Thanks to the Polio eradication drive of the State, the number of physically challenged children got declined. Hence, the focus of Karunagruha was shifted to the welfare of children and it started working as an adoption placement center from 2010. Now it is a recognized Special Adoption Agency by Govt of Karnataka.

Special Adoption Agency
The Dept of Women and Child Development of Karnataka State had requested the Trust to start an Adoption Placement Agency in Mandya District as no such facility was available in the District. Under this programme any abandoned child found in the age of 1 day to 5 yrs will be sent to the Trust by the Department. The trust provides physical and emotional support to the child and also makes efforts to locate biological parents and if not found the child will be given for adoption legally. The center is creating quality facilities to provide better service to children.

In last one year 8 such children have come to the shelter of Karunagruha. The profile of children who provided us an opportunity to serve them during the year 2011 is as follows.
